What it is

Teeth cleaning — also called dental cleaning, or scaling and polishing — is a routine treatment that removes hardened plaque (tartar) your toothbrush can't.

Left in place, tartar irritates the gums and makes it easier for decay and gum disease to develop. A professional clean resets your teeth to a healthy baseline and gives your dentist a clear view of anything that needs attention.
